James Howard Kunstler, a Jewish writer/Peak Oil doomer, is predicting White Nationalists will overcome their political marginalization in the year ahead. He sees a “variety-pack of political disturbance” including “dangerous players such as the political racialists, the posse comitatus types, the totalitarian populists” coming “out of the woodwork” and joining “the contest over dwindling resources.” Racialist ideologues will offer “revolutionary action to redefine some lost sense of national purpose.”
In his 2010 forecast, I was surprised that Kunstler didn’t include his usual dire warnings (Palinites with pitchforks) about “cornpone Nazism,” a subject he has endlessly harped upon in the past. Kunstler has become notorious for his scathing hatred of ordinary White people. Last month, he went so far as to describe the White working and middle class as “The Yeast People.” I’ve been following him for years and have never seen him use this kind loaded rhetoric to attack blacks and Hispanics for their sordid underclass culture, which by any honest measure is several orders of magnitude worse than comparable trends in the White community.
Kunstler’s attack on the BNP is especially revealing: “History is ironical. Perhaps this time the Germans will be the good guys, while England goes apeshit with its BNP. Wouldn’t that be something?” The BNP is the only political party in the UK which has raised awareness of the Peak Oil issue, which everyone knows is so dear to his heart, but Kunstler sees Nick Griffin as the leader of the bad guys. He implies that the BNP are Nazis.
Kunstler’s Jewishness, the source of his fear and loathing of White people, weighs more heavily in his mind than anything he has said about Peak Oil, suburbs, walkable communities, relocalization, or the automobile. I can’t help but wonder whether or not this animus is the real source of his social criticism.

Kuntsler seems to get easily ruffled by white people who refuse to go quietly into the good night. How dare we? Don’t we know we are horrible people who should willingly disappear because Jews like Kuntsler desire it?
WN’s should take note that Kuntsler mocks the BNP which has taken great pains to avoid attacking Jews or their interests in Britain. In some respects the BNP is pro-Jewish. When he says yeast people, he means the tendency of human beings to behave like bacteria on a civilization scale. That’s what’s happening here. Check out this book for instance, Katrina nights: Love in the time of Flooding. It posits the theory that human population has now entered a death phase similar to that suffered by microbiological populations in lab experiments.
Kunstler’s jew-ness does sort of inform his opinions on world politics, and he’s gloriously wrong in his simplicity in that arena, but when he talks about living conditions here in the US, he knows what he’s talking about.
If I had compared the Jews to bacteria, how do you suppose Kunstler would have reacted? He would be calling me an anti-Semite.
I really think people should at least read some of Kunstler’s stuff before writing this madness, although this site seems dedicated to madness. The only time his heritage seems to inform his opinions is in discussing the middle east, where he is WAY off base. But in his critique of modern industrial society, he spreads his criticism fairly broad. If you only take the few lines quoted above, I see the problem, and it is indeed correct that he doesn’t blatently insult minorities as much as he does whites, but underneath it all it is very clear that he is addressing this entire sick society, from the bottom up, regardless of color, race or creed. James is, as he describes himself, an “an all-purpose writer”, so rough metaphors are his stock and trade.
That is to say that he provokes in order to entertain, and I would add inspire. he probably would deny this, but I think he wants to get us thinking and asking good questions. He might also deny that his grumpy persona is calculated in that direction.
I see him as a sort of cultural “Fool” who is given the social space to mock the King and all his court.
The problem is, of course, is that in the process, the Fool is expected to be sans a hidden agenda or closeted constituency.
The Fool has to walk the line of getting us to think, and keeping us engaged concurrently. This is no small task. neither is Jim’s. I like him. A lot.
So, as a result, his contempt of the Goyim must of itself, occasionally shine through. it is too much to ask that we live with it? He is one of the few seminal writers on peak oil. And he is human. he has his tribe, his passions, and his blind spots…but don’t we all?

I think what we see playing out here is the hostility toward education and the educated that runs rampant in this country today. People like Sarah Palin because “she sounds like us.” I don’t want people in power who sound like them. I don’t really want people in power who sound like me. I think what James has pointed out, in his usual barbed way, is that there are rafts of ignorant people ripe to be taken advantage of. Watch out when the disability checks, cheese doodles and Pepsi run out. These people are armed to the teeth, which is exactly why I am too.

Kunstler has suggested current Goldman Sachs CEOs and their executive alumni now and formerly serving in federal government positions (e.g., Paulson, Geithner) might get the granite-countertop “appreciation” of the roused, indignant masses whom they’ve cheated, and has many times openly called for their (Goldman Sachs) investigation and probable indictment and criminal prosecution. You folks who think that Kunstler is anti – whatever are a little off the mark, here, like measured in light-years, not centimeters. Kunstler is not anti-white or anti-Christian or anti-American… he is, shall we say, a tad acerbic. But he’s simply a critic. All societies have critics. In the Old Testament I think they were called “prophets”. They have and describe a perspective different from the commonly held perspective. That’s all. I don’t like his attitude which I think is too negative, but I find his perspective invaluable as an influence on mine, keeping me from slipping into idiotic smug complacency. If I had heeded his warnings about the economy I would have avoided some significant loss of “wealth” (paper wealth) in the crash, but I found him too strident to be credible enough to act on. Too bad. I could have done some serious checking up but I just sat and waited for it to happen or not (it did). (Full disclosure: I am a WASP by cultural and biological heritage.)
As a Jew, and as one who experiences some severe anti-Semitism on line, Kunstler is naturally going to be wary of anyone whom he suspects might conceivably turn into the kind of German that participated so enthusiastically in the Holocaust. Every society has them, including Israel and of course Rwanda (not so long ago) and Nigeria (years ago) on and on; and every society’s history has times when conditions stimulate and release such behavior. So Kunstler’s railing about the potential for large angry crowds with pitchforks is partly social commentary and partly fear. The “reasoned” anti-Semites on this site might want to think about the moral implications of holding and publishing anti-Semitic views.
I grew up with a virulently anti-Semitic parent and it took me a long time to shed a bit of my own anti-Semitism, as I had for a time felt myself a failure (as did that parent) and Jews were in some way a convenient target for anger based on personal frustration. But I have been reading a lot of Noam Chomsky (a serious critic of American foreign policy, but no more critical really than John Perkins, say) and also got acquainted with the personal philosophies and behaviors of Judah Folkman and Jonas Salk, incredibly productive and courageous contributors to the efforts to combat cancer and polio respectively. My advice is to make friends, to realize we’re all alike, to walk a mile in the others’ moccasins, to be our own severe critic from time to time. This self-disciplining thinking leads to greater self-respect and thus to the elimination of the need to blame someone else for our troubles. Once we’ve accomplished that, and eliminated the psychologically-based anti-Semitism, then perhaps it’s safe to criticize, say, Israeli foreign policy, or criticize Congress’ fawning obedience of AIPAC.
My own experience with anti-Semitism might inform. My family had a reunion where the only place for me and my wife and kids to stay was a yacht club nearby. The WASPs there thought we were Jews, apparently, maybe because I have a German surname. When my kids went into the pool the yacht-club kids got out. One 5-year-old said to my 5-year-old son, “get out of my way you little Jew bastard”. My first thought was “hey, we’re not Jews”. A second or two later my thought was “right now I kind of wish I was a Jew and not one of these people”. I was furious at these pathetic a-h’s whose wealth was probably entirely inherited. I’m still furious. How can we have self-respect, or earn/deserve the respect of the human race, when we act like this?

1.) Anti-Semitism isn’t a social problem in America. I don’t know of a single elected politician in America (or mainstream political pundit) who criticizes Jews as Jews.
2.) Europhobia is out of control. It is perfectly legitimate and mainstream to bash White Americans. Hollywood churns out movies like Dances With Wolves, The Last Samurai, and Avatar.
3.) The purpose of this blog is to raise consciousness about legitimate grievances that Whites have against Jews. Dialogue works both ways. Jews are creating a cultural environment in America that is increasingly hostile to people of European ancestry.
To all the new people here. I am a regular at Hunter’s two blogs, but not an anti-Semite. I’m half Jewish and half of Hunter’s readers (at least) think I’m the enemy for that reason alone. What I want to say is that there are indeed a lot of stuipd, irrational and historically incorrect aspects to anti-Semitism. But the anti-Semites DO make one good point. A powerful one. Which is a question: why are Jews – a people, a tribe, not a religion by any stretch of the imagination – allowed to take steps to preserve their identity as a distinct people, but white Americans, or Europeans, are STRONGLY disparaged and reviled if they make an effort to ask the same question about their own people? Why are only Jews allowed to put “their own people” first? And this is not a new thing, prompted by the Holocaust. It is the basis of their belief system (their indigenous “religion,” Judaism). Reject everything else about anti-Semitism — I more or less have — but admit that they raise good questions here.
Hunter, one last comment here. Whom do you think Kunstler’s audience comprises? Are they The Yeast People, or fellow Jews, or perhaps a few corn-pone Nazis? Have you ever eaten a corn pone? They’re actually quite tasty.

I’m not convinced that Kunstler is anti-white, at least not in the conventional sense. In fact, I get the sense that he has considerable fondness for European culture and civilization. On the other hand, I am convinced that his Jewishness informs a good deal of his worldview, and this causes the occasional disconnect that can be so jarring.
I have many of his books, never miss his Monday column, and his weekly podcast is currently the only one on my Must Listen to List. I look forward to it every week.
In short, I’ve kept up with Kunstler pretty well. I like the guy. He’s interesting and insightful. And yes, it is rather ironic that a white nationalist such as myself would have a Jew at the top of his podcast list! Hey, I wish more WN would step up to the plate, but the most interesting ones seem to be taking a vacation.
Anyway, moving on. Here is my take on Kunstler and race: I don’t think that there is any question that he understands that racial conflict is pretty much standard fare, and that he doesn’t really buy into the political cult of multiracialism.
I also believe that he understands, though would never admit, that walkable communities would be far more viable in a racially homogenous community.
What’s the point of having a walkable community if you don’t feel safe walking around? Or, even if it’s not just a matter of safety, what is the point of having walkable communities if you are going to be constantly assaulted by blaring rap music and other joys of the degenerate Kwa? Our aesthetic sensibilities can only take so much, and daily assault under multiracialism is just too punishing for most, and understandably so.
In order to create places worth caring about, in order to be citizens again instead of just consumers, well, it matters a great deal who one’s fellow citizens are. The current system insists on dumping all sorts of incompatible (and often dangerous) elements flat down in the middle of the public square, so to speak. Is it any wonder that many people are no longer willing to invest so much in the public square?
For that matter, I’m sure that a lot of New Urbanists, not just Kunstler, feel the same way. At the end of the day, people aren’t going to want to live in compact, sustainable communities if their would be neighbors are alien and often hostile. It just doesn’t work that way, nor should it. Many of the New Urbanists have to know that the “joys” of diversity are a major obstacle in their way. Who wants more public transit when it is going to haul in violent criminals? If we lived in a white and homogenous community, resistance to New Urbanism would largely collapse. At the very least, resistance would greatly diminish. But with the joys of “diversity,” the public square becomes a place to avoid, not a place to congregate.
So that’s Jim’s quandry: he’s a lib at heart (he would say “progressive”), but unfortunately for him, he’s actually got a brain. A particularly insightful brain, as a matter of fact.
On some level he realizes that what passes for progressivism – promoting degenerate behavior, swamping the country with Third Worlders, doctrinaire political correctness that crushes free speech and inquiry, etc. – make his vision of walkable communities and the creation of places worth caring about LESS LIKELY. I don’t doubt for a minute that he knows this. How can you expect people to invest in public space, to cherish the public realm, when the libs (and hell, even the so called conservatives these days) keep filling it with Somalians or what have you? How many rapes and wildings does it take for large numbers of people to disengage and disinvest?
How much carnage do you have to inflict on people before they abandon the public realm and retreat into the private? We are now living the answer to that question. Whatever the “magic number” was, we’ve certainly crossed it.
And while I have no doubt that Jim understands most of what I have just written, however much he might deny it, he just can’t bring himself to draw the logical conclusions. Perhaps it is his Jewishness, or perhaps his history of “progressivism,” but he simply can’t make the final break with the old worldview.
In short, he sees the problem, but cannot allow himself to fully draw the correct conclusions. Namely: that we white nationalists have a helluva point. For Jim, who I agree with on damn near everything beyond race, we will always be The Bad Guys. But, not to worry, I’ll still be listening to him. Still a fan. He’s worth listening to. And I’ll even be buying his new book when it comes out, so he can at least make a few shekels off of this goy. LOL!

Yep. When they criticize blacks they’re “racists,” “bigots,” “haters,” etc. When they criticize Jews they’re “anti-Semites,” “nazis,” etc. When they criticize white’s they’re “critics.”
I’ve read a lot of stuff from some pretty hardcore pro-white writers: The late Dr. William Pierce and Alex Linder are two of my favorites. So I’m pretty well up on the Jewish issue. But I like Kunstler. He’s smart, insightful and he’s one Jew who is refresingly not hung up on being Jewish. I actually believe JHK really cares about this country, and not just as a milk cow for Israel. I suspect he spent some time around Hunter S. Thompson, and perhaps that influenced his thinking. It certainly influenced his writing style and wit.
Kunstler criticizes whites because they are actually responsible for the country. Blacks and Hispanics aren’t. Kunstler rightly holds us to a higher level of accountability. We’re clearly capable of much better than we are as a people right now. All of Kunstler’s criticisms of white working and middle classes iare dead on target. We have become a nation of fat, lazy slobs (physical, intellectual and moral slobs) and we fully deserve what’s coming to us.
The main reason most white nationalist writers are hostile to Kunslter is because the oil-shortage problem is clearly a more urgent and powerful one than the looming race problem. Why worry so much about racial decay when our entire country could be turned upside down much more suddenly because of Peak Oil and the collapse of our economy and entire civilization? It’s a more pressing doomsday issue.

I’m not anti-Kunstler. Far from it, I have always considered him my favorite Jew. He is largely right about the degeneration of the White underclass. I’m not surprised to see Kunstler isn’t a proper Jew, at least not by Orhtodox standards. He looks way too Anglo-Saxon to be a real semite, either Ashkenazi or Sephardic.
